Hit Entertainment is celebrating the success of its latest Thomas & Friends DVD, Misty Island Rescue, after it became the biggest selling week one pre-school title of 2010.
Released on October 11th, the title's week one sales were up seven per cent on the previous major Thomas & Friends releases, Hero of the Rails.
Three weeks into trading, and sales have increased to a further ten per cent lead on last year's figures.
Meanwhile, in Australia, sales of Misty Island Rescue are 40 per cent up on last year's Thomas release.
"These fantastic figures are testament to Thomas' incredible popularity," said Rick Glankler, Hit's SVP global brand management. "In our 65th anniversary year, Thomas' global appeal shows no sign of abating. Our feature length DVDs are clearly delighting Thomas fans and sales for the associated merchandise are also looking exceptionally good."
