Brave shoots to the top of the US box office

The new Disney-Pixar film pulls in $80 million worldwide.

The latest offering from Disney Pixar has unsurprisingly shot to the top of the US box office.

In the 'States Brave sold $66.7 million worth of tickets in its opening weekend, and bought in a further $13.5 million from international markets.

Brave has the distinction of being the first Disney-Pixar film to feature a female lead – the ginger-haired Princess Merida.

Earlier this month Disney unveiled its initial round of Brave toys.
