Following a number of licensing coups that has seen it achieve significant success in the value PS2 market, Blast is looking forward to its second Christmas and beyond as it plans to roll out key titles onto other formats.

“We’ve had a fantastic year and we’re set to reap the rewards of our licensing labour for the busiest quarter,” said Kirsty Payne, head of marketing at Mastertronic.

“This will be a big Christmas for Blast, we’ve built our product line up into a high profile stable of titles all with big brand names, to take advantage of the younger PS2 market, the massive installed base and consistent hardware sales.”

After achieving success at retail with children’s licences such as Bob the Builder and Thomas and Friends, the Mastertronic label intends to follow up these with titles based on Paddington Bear, Casper, Lassie, Postman Pat and Mr Bean.

“The good news is that after initiating this strategy on PS2 we’re now ready to roll out these brands across different formats including Nintendo DS and Wii,” continued Payne.

“Blast is going from strength to strength and we’ll continue to provide the best film, cartoon and TV licences across the bestselling video game formats.”
