Calon TV has revealed details of a new spoof reality talent show, Zoo Factor. The show, being filmed for CBBC, has been labelled as a cross between reality TV talent shows and The Muppets, with a target audience of eight to ten year olds.
It will star various animals in puppet forms including the judging panel, Clive, Celia and Barry, who take the form of a lion, a seal and a monkey respectively. The parody will be complete with sob stories, a catchphrase, “if you’re beaten – you’re eaten” and a marsupial presenter named Hilly Wallaby.
The series has been written by Mark Evans and Will Ing, who between them have been responsible for entertainment shows including Strictly Come Dancing, Saturday Night Takeaway, Pop Idol and the panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats. Calon TV is looking to make Zoo Factor the latest in its line of successful kid’s programming having produced shows including Super Ted and Fireman Sam.
