Canada boost for Sesame Street

Licensing Shop picks up rights to Sesame Workshop from next year.

Toronto-based The Licensing Shop has been appointed to handle the licensing and merchandising for Sesame Workshop in Canada beginning from next January.

Licensing categories for the property in the territory include toys, games, apparel, publishing, home video/DVD, arts/crafts, youth furniture, party goods, gifts, bath goods, health and beauty, stationery and health food.

"Canada has been an incredible marketplace for Sesame products ever since the first season of Sesame Street aired in 1969," said Hunter Heller, Sesame Workshop's assistant VP of international licensing.

"The team behind The Licensing Shop demonstrates an impressive history of representing children's entertainment licensing rights. Their expertise, coupled with in-depth knowledge of the Canadian licensing and retail landscape, will continie to help build and strengthen the Sesame brand."
