Cars 3 takes lead at Formula 1 British Grand Prix

Owen Wilson, the voice of Lightning McQueen, visited the track and a new Cars 3 garage housing life size models of Lightning McQueen and Jackson Storm.

As Disney-Pixar’s Cars 3 launched in cinemas this weekend, Owen Wilson, the voice of Lightning McQueen, attended the Formula 1 British Grand Prix.

On the day, Wilson celebrated the opening of a Cars 3 garage housing two special guests in the pit lane – the life size models of characters, Lightning McQueen and Jackson Storm.

"We're thrilled to be collaborating with Disney and the blockbuster Cars franchise,” said Sean Bratches, MD of commercial operations at Formula 1.

“After seeing the incredibly authentic race scenes in Cars 3, we knew that F1 British Grand Prix was the only place to launch the film in the UK and we're sure it will delight our growing family audience for F1."

Wilson also got the chance to climb aboard the F1 Experience two-seater car around the famous race track and took part in the start of the race.

Lee Jury, co-head of the Walt Disney Studios UK, added: "We are so thrilled to be partnering with F1, what better way to celebrate the release of Cars 3than to welcome the legendary Lightning McQueen and his new arch rival, Jackson Storm, to Silverstone in this unprecedented activation at the Formula 1 Rolex British Grand Prix. Fans are in for a treat."
