The Cherokee brand is to make its debut in India following a multi-year agreement between the licensor and the country's largest textlle company and retailer, Arvind Mills.
The deal covers a wide range of categories including men's, women's and children's clothing, footwear, accessories and home amongst other categories.
"We are very excited to have the opportunity to licence the Cherokee brand for India," said Sanjay Lalbhai, chairman and MD of Arvind Mills. "Cherokee is one of the fastest growing brands worldwide and with our experience of working with international brands and knowledge of the Indian retail environment, we are confident that Cherokee will be one of the largest family lifestyle brands across India."
Mark Nawrocki, senior VP at Cherokee, added: "There is no better partner in India who understands both our branding and retail as Arvind. Through their Megamart store division, it is one of the largest clothing retailers in India, and their planned roll out for Cherokee in both free standing Cherokee Stores, as well as their wholesale business, establishes the right model for success."
The Cherokee brand is now licensed in 28 major countries, with the firm continuing to look for the right partners in available markets throughout the world.
