Chorion broadens Eric Carle drive

New publishing, game applications, toys and apparel launching.

Chorion has inked a raft of new deals for The World of Eric Carle in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, Asia Pacific and Japan.

New US publishing partners will introduce a range of products in 2011. Random House Children's Books will launch a collection of colouring and activity books this autumn, with further introductions planned for 2012. In addition, Publications International will launch scrapboards in the spring, with a line of soundbooks following in the autumn.

In addition, Night and Day Studios will launch My Very First App this month for iPhone, iPad and iTouch. The first in a range of game application, it will be priced at 99 cents and will include Colours, with add on games like Sounds and Shapes.

In the UK, babywear featuring The Very Hungry Caterpillar continues to expand, with George @ Asda launching apparel in July.

Chorion has signed new deals in Germany with Joy Toy, which will be launching soft toys from the autumn. In addition, German calendar company Heye has signed up for calendars, date books, monthly planners and family planners.

In Australia, Target has launched infant toys, with apparel following in spring 2011. This follows the debut of junior fashion t-shirts at Jay Jay's in August.

The brand will be further expanded in Europe with the appointment of Marathon Media to represent it in France and CPLG in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg.

Meanwhile, Chorion has appointed Infiniss as the new agent for Eric Carle in Korea.

"We are excited to be partnering with these leading merchandising companies to bring contemporary products to the market."



Since going private last year, Chorion has quietly been building up its portfolio. Now it is ready to shout from the rooftops about its forthcoming line-up, which includes more Noddy activity, as well as the launch of Mr Men and Famous Five projects.
