The Sunday Times has reported (in an unsourced story), that the firm has been securing funding for a January bid for Apax Partner's Hit Entertainment, which is being auctioned for up to £1 billion.

The new investor will be chosen in the next two weeks with help from investment bank Jefferies, the report said.

A deal would see the two businesses rolled together, with 3i, owner of Chorion, maintaining a minority stake.

The news comes after reports back in October that Chorion, Viacom and Disney, were interested in the sale.

Since going private last year, Chorion has quietly been building up its portfolio. Now it is ready to shout from the rooftops about its forthcoming line-up, which includes more Noddy activity, as well as the launch of Mr Men and Famous Five projects.
