The BBC's Cbeebies Channel has committed to another 26 x ten-minute episodes of Ludorum's pre-school show Chuggington.
The deal brings the total number of episodes available to 78. The new series is expected to launch on the channel in the first quarter of 2010.
Chuggington has already been sold to 140 countries including key territories such as Germany (Super RTL), France (TF1), Australia (ABC) and Canada (Treehouse). The series launched in Germany in January this year, with ratings performing well, with an average 63 per cent share of boys aged three to five. Broadcast will begin in several other key territories from spring and then in the rest of the world throughout the rest of the year.
The consumer products roll out will also begin this spring with the first DVD release from 2entertain. Parragon has also been appointed as a long-term publishing partner in all English speaking markets (except the US and Canada) and in Germany, Scandinavia and Benelux. Selected products will launch in early summer, while apparel will appear in the autumn and a toy line from RC2/Learning Curve in spring 2010.
"We are delighted to be working with Cbeebies on a second series of Chuggington and are extremely pleased by the series' successful performance on the channel to date," said Charlie Caminada, COO of Ludorum.
