Penguin Books has added to its licensed portfolio, planning a range of new books for Club Penguin for launch in July.
One of the largest virtual worlds for children, Club Penguin launched three years ago. Users can create a penguin and engage in a variety of activities including chatting, playing games and earning virtual coins to purchase clothes and accessories for their penguin.
Penguin Books' initial titles will be aimed at eight to 12 year olds and will include two sticker books, plus a joke book, Ultimate Official Guide and Secret Agent Handbook.
"Club Penguin has captured the imaginations of millions of children around the world and we're honoured to be partnering with such an innovative company and happy that we are once again working with Disney Publishing Worldwide to develop books that tie in with this highly successful virtual world," said Eric Huang, category publisher, brands and licensing at Penguin.
