Comedy Central has detailed an extensive development slate of original series created exclusively for Snapchat.

Snapchat is a messaging app that allows users to send each other images and videos that self destruct after a few seconds of a person viewing them.

The firm's Snapchat slate includes global greenlights for nine new series spanning a range of formats covering the worlds of animation, sketch, stand-up, reality television and late night.

"It’s been great fun experimenting with established and emerging talent on our Snapchat Discover channel,” said Kent Alterman, president, original programming, Comedy Central in the US.

“It allows us to play with form and format, and the reception from our fans and the creative community has been tremendously gratifying."

Jill Offman, SVP and head of Comedy Central International, added: “We launched our Snapchat Discover channel internationally just two months ago and are thrilled with the response from fans.

“With a mission to become the home of funny across every platform internationally, this fresh new content lets us give our audiences more of what they love and expect from Comedy Central around the world.”

All new series will be available for streaming exclusively on Comedy Central’s Snapchat channel globally.
