Having picked up the British Animation Award for the nation's favourite animated character, Copyrights Group is gearing up for a raft of activity surrounding Paddington Bear.
A number of refreshed product launches have already been showcased at events this year, including bags and aprons from Shreds, tea from New English Teas and enamel boxes from Halcyon Days, toiletries from Ethos Concepts and melamine from The Portmeirion Group.
A number of Britannia themed lines are also going into key multiples this year. Brecrest's new infant and toddler apparel ranges will hit Sainsbury's in the spring, BHS is bringing a new infant line on board this month and Tesco is set to stock new ladies nightwear from Somerbond.
"We are delighted to be welcoming new licensees on board, to see Paddington apparel launching across multiple retailers and for the wealth of new products that are making their debut this spring," said Nicholas Durbridge, chairman of The Copyrights Group.
"This is an extremely exciting time for Paddington Bear and fantastic that, thanks to support from his fans, Paddington was voted Favourite Ever British Animated Character at the British Animation Awards.
"The eyes of the world are upon Great Britain this year, so the brand has never been in a more visible or high profile position and there are lots more exciting developments for Paddington to come."
Two new books are also launching from HarperCollins, including a new novel called Paddington Races Ahead. Other brand activity includes the release of two new DVDs on May 21st from Abbey Home Media, themed for the Queen's Jubilee.
