Giftware and collectables for top soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale are due to hit retail, after Enesco sealed a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment.

The firm is planning a range of Coronation Street giftware for launch in the summer. It will include mugs, coasters, money banks, glassware, shopping bags, magnets and keyrings, while a selection of miniature replicas of key buildings will arrive through Enesco's specialist collectables brand, Lilliput Lane.

An Emmerdale Lilliput Lane is also planned for January 2013.

The replicas will be handmade at Enesco's Lilliput Lane site in the Scottish Borders.

The core target market for all the Enesco lines is likely to be adult females - in line with the Street's main viewing demographic - although there is expected to be a strong secondary market among gift buyers of all ages.

The Coronation Street lines will have their first major showing to retail at the Harrogate Home and Gift Show in July.

"The Coronation Street buildings are part of the nation's consciousness and replicas of them will be a must for collectors, while its characters and catchphrases lend themselves perfectly to quality giftware ranges," said Anna Beaty, marketing manager at Enesco. "We are delighted to have been asked to work with such iconic names as Coronation Street and Emmerdale."

Trudi Hayward, SVP, head of global merchandise, at ITV added: "For the production of giftware and collectables for a classic ITV name like Coronation Street, it was important to find a licensee with a strong track record in quality products.

"Enesco, with many decades of experience and a respected and famous collectables line through Lilliput, was the ideal partner. We are sure both lines, and the 2013 Emmerdale collectables, will prove enormously popular at retail."
