CPLG has been appointed as the worldwide licensing agent for the Degrassi TV franchise, which is celebrating 30 years on air.

The firm has kicked off its licensing drive by signing 5th Sun as the apparel licensee. T-shirts will be available exclusively at Hot Topic from this summer. CPLG will also be targeting the publishing category.

Degrassi debuted in 1980 with The Kids of Degrassi Street. Three spin-off series followed: Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi High and Degrassi: The Next Generation. There were also three TV movies, two mini-series and a documentary.

"We're thrilled to represent one of the most successful teen TV franchises of all time as they celebrate their 30th anniversary," said Cindy Davis, SVP licensing at CPLG US. "We look forward to bringing a variety of products to retail that will appeal to fans of all ages."
