Taito has appointed CPLG to represent its classic video game brand Space Invaders across Central Europe, the UK, US and Canada.

CPLG will be looking to use Space Invaders’ huge appeal to extend the property across a wide range of sectors including apparel, gifts, stationary and unique promotions.

“Taito is excited to be working with CPLG, who have a great reputation in building and maintaining strong licensing programmes across the world,” said Janet Swallow, VP licensing worldwide of the Eidos Label, which is part of Square Enix Group.

“We are thrilled to be representing Space Invaders,” says Karen McNally, head of international marketing & new business at CPLG. “The property benefits from massive brand recognition and is instantly recognisable, which gives us a very strong platform to build on and we are looking forward to developing a strong and diverse licensing programme.”

Space Invaders first hit Japanese arcades back in 1978.
