Agent CPLG Sport has brokered two publishing deals for the England Rugby Team for the Rugby Football Union (RFU).
ProgrammeMaster has already published an England Rugby yearbook and the publisher is set to publish a full-colour England magazine featuring all the latest news on the team, which will be published four times a year.
A renewal has been signed with Haynes Publishing for an updated version of the Rugby Union Manual, which will include case studies and photos of the current England team, info on rule changes, the latest on women’s rugby and a foreword by England Head Coach Stuart Lancaster.
“England Rugby is an influential brand and with the 2015 IRB Rugby World Cup being hosted in England we are dealing with an unprecedented amount of interest from the publishing sector,” said Susan Bolsover, European Category Director for Publishing at CPLG. “We are working on several yet to be announced initiatives that will see the publishing programme for the RFU develop into new areas.”
Andy Ward, RFU’s head of retail, commented: “ProgrammeMaster is a fantastic partner to be welcoming on board, while Haynes has done an excellent job with the updated Rugby Union Manual. This bolsters the RFU’s existing presence in publishing and demonstrates the considerable strength of the brand within this sector.”
Comments David Ellingham, chairman at ProgrammeMaster added: “England Rugby is a massive brand and a welcome addition to our portfolio of leading sporting licenses – we expect both the Yearbook and the England Magazine to perform strongly at retail after extensive redesigns of both titles.”
The brand now has over 30 licensees across all key categories including apparel, headwear, luggage gifts, interactive and back to school.
