With ITV gearing up for the fifth series of hit show Dancing on Ice, games publisher Ghostlight has signed up to produce the official video game for the series.

The title will roll out on Nintendo's DS and Wii systems in the first quarter of 2009 and is being developed by Coyote Console. It will feature celebrities from the show, as well as customisable characters designed by the player. A TV show story mode will also be included, allowing players to mingle with the stars and compete in skate offs.

"This is a truly unique gaming proposition which will engage the entire family," commented Gustavo Antonioni, commercial brand director at ITV Global Entertainment. "The concept combines fast paced 'skate off' competitive fun, alongside interactive dress-up options to personalise your character."

Simon Kay, business development director at AT New Media, added: "Dancing on Ice has become a global phenomenon and to see the creative thinking behind this product from Ghostlight coming together has been very exciting. It has been a pleasure working on finalising this initiative and we look forward to playing what is sure to be a tremendously successful product."
