The Consumer Products division of The Walt Disney Group has seen its revenues for the quarter ending December 29th 2007 increase by 29 per cent to $870m. In addition, its segment operating income increased by 38 per cent to $322m.
Disney Consumer Products UK has also enjoyed a strong first fiscal quarter - and despite the tough retail environment, it has experienced double digit growth across key categories.
With a wealth of new content in the coming months across the firm's movie, home entertainment and TV divisions, all supported with a wide range of merchandise, DCP UK is confident the growth will keep coming, too.
The firm's strong Christmas performance was reflected across its evergreen and new franchises.
Disney Princess, for example, saw merchandise sales grow 34 per cent year-on-year - and with new products coming this year to support Sleeping Beauty, the firm is looking forward to continuing the upward trend.
Winnie the Pooh was the number one selling infant toy licence, while High School Musical continued to keep the tills ringing in the UK. Toy sales alone reached £10.6m (Source: NPD) following the launch of the toy line in October 2007 and other trend-driven products including clothing, stationery, magazines, bedroom decor and video games are also flying off the shelves.

The HSM fashion dolls were two of the top five best sellers in the category in December 2007.
Since launching at the end of September, the first issues of the HSM magazine were a near sell out, with the print run now having been increased by 50 per cent.
Over 2.5 million HSM branded books have been sold in the UK to date.
HSM textiles outsold all other non-Disney character merchandise at retail and the 'ready bed' became the best selling licensed product.
To date, HSM2 has reached 179 million total viewers worldwide. High School Musical 3: Senior Year is due for a cinema release later this year, supported by new merchandise.
