Following a successful premiere on Cartoon Network in the US, Entertainment Rights has revealed it has inked a significant number of broadcast deals for Transformers Animated.

In the UK, Nickelodeon has snapped up the show and a 70-minute special episode, while Gulli (France) and Super RTL (Germany) have also signed up.

Transformers Animated has been developed by Cartoon Network Studios in Los Angeles. A bold new 2D style is the trademark of the show, moving on from the original 'Generation 1' animated series which launched the Transformers phenomenon in 1984.

In addition, the series will introduce new characters alongside favourites such as Optimus Prime and Megatron.

"We have had an overwhelming interest from international broadcasters post Mipcom for the new Transformers Animated series," said Chloe van den Berg, director of international at Entertainment Rights.

"We recently extended distribution rights to include Latin America, where broadcasters are also showing great demand for the series and we expect to announce new agreements in due course.

"The recent agreements with European broadcasters demonstrate ER's success at securing premier television platforms for the franchise around the world."
