The movie may not be due until May 2008, but the licensing drive for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has already begun.

Scholastic has been awarded the publishing rights, according to KidScreen. The tie-in publishing programme will include four movie novelisations - one for each of the three original films and the upcoming fourth instalment.

The first three books will roll out on May 1st 2008, with the final one being release day and date with the movie, May 22nd.

Meanwhile, over in the US, Lucasfilm will be releasing over a dozen official tie-books, aimed at both young and adult readers.

Dark Horse, DK Publishing, Scholastic, Pocket Books, Del Ray and Random House Audio will be official partners, while there will be at least five unofficial books from small labels released early next year, according to website SpielbergFilms.com.
