The minions machine shows no sign of slowing down as animated threequel Despicable Me 3 has opened to outstanding box office results this weekend.
Universal and Illumination's CGI adventure launched to $75 million in the domestic US market, which when added to the handful of regions it has already launched in, brings the total to $116.9 million.

“This is an outstanding performance across the board,” Universal’s international distribution chief Duncan Clark told Variety. “We’ve got a number of huge territories yet to release, so this is a very, very strong foundation for us.”

Meanwhile Transformers: The Last Knight is approaching a $68 million weekend overseas, while Pirates of the Carribean: Salazar's Revenge has hit the $700 million mark for Disney.
