DHX Media and Tencent strike multi-series streaming deal

Teletubbies, Strawberry Shortcake and Inspector Gadget are among the titles licensed to the Chinese internet giant.

Global children's content and brands company DHX Media has signed a multi-series streaming deal with Chinese firm Tencent for over 450 hours of children's content including Teletubbies, Inspector Gadget, Twirlywoos, Super WHY!, Animal Mechanicals and Strawberry Shortcake.

The deal will see the chinese firm secure exclusive streaming rights for the titles in mainland China.

Tencent is one of the world’s largest technology companies and a dominant internet player in China. Tencent recently became the first Chinese technology firm to cross US$500 billion in market capitalization trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, joining the ranks of Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook.
