The parent company of Decode Entertainment and Halifax Film, DHX Media has acquired Vancouver-based Studio B Productions.
The deal sees Decode handling international sales of Studio B's productions. To date, the firm has amassed a library of 400 half hours of children's programming. It is a privately owned producer with a 24,000 square foot studio specialising in digital and classical animation.
Studio B has a current production slate of seven shows including Ricky Sprocket: Showbiz Boy (pictured) for Teletoon and Nickelodeon Networks, Kid vs Kat for YTV and Martha Speaks, co-produced with WGBH Boston.
Production will continue under the Studio B brand following the DHX acquisition.
DHX will benefit from several new broadcaster relationships, expanded production capabilities and a greater supply of children's programming for distribution.
"We are delighted to partner with Studio B as it offers DHX Media access to a growing library, significant creative and production skills and outstanding children's content production capabilities," said Michael Donovan, chairman and CEO at DHX.
Previously, Decode and Studio B collaborated on the animated series What About Mimi?
