DHX Media has secured a deal with new children’s subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service Kidoodle.TV.
The producer, distributor and licensor of mainly kids' entertainment content reached an agreement with Kidoodle, which has picked up 800 hours worth of DHX Media’s premium and catalogue titles for its North American service, which is set to launch in the summer.
Titles include Inspector Gadget, Rastamouse (pictured), Strawberry Shortcake, Busytown Mysteries, Bo on the Go and Franny’s Feet.
“The License agreement with DHX Media strengthens the Kidoodle.TV offering with one of the largest children's video libraries of high quality popular branded titles," said Dan Lowe, CEO of a Parent Media Co. Inc., owner of Kidoodle.TV.
“We look forward to the North American launch of Kidoodle.TV, providing a safe and meaningful on-demand experience for children and families.”
DHX Media has also signed a raft of new VOD and SVOD deals for its programming across a plethora of territories.
Nordisk Film Production has licensed the SVOD rights to Inspector Gadget, non-exclusively in the Nordic territory; while Watchever, the Vivendi company that recently launched a SVOD service in Germany, has secured various DHX Media titles, such as Franny’s Feet and Hurray for Huckle, to join other DHX Media shows already existing on the platform.
Qwik Entertainment has licensed over 225 half hours of programming for its SVOD service in India. Titles include The Adventures of Paddington Bear and Dennis the Menace.
Triplay Digital Content has taken a number of shows for DSTVO in South Africa for VOD broadcast. Children will be treated to blockbuster hits like Caillou, Arthur and Mona the Vampire.
Josh Scherba, SVP of Distribution at DHX Media, added: “The global appetite for DHX Media’s content has proved unwavering in the first quarter of 2013, and our confidence for the coming months is further reinforced by the fantastic variety and size of these sales.
"The Kidoodle.TV deal is a major coup for us and highlight’s DHX Media’s pre-eminent position as a key provider of top quality programming for VOD platforms.”
