DHX targets new territories for Rastamouse

DHX Media has secured a swathe of new international broadcast deals for Rastamouse.

BBC Worldwide Channels has acquired the show for its feeds in Hispanic US, Latin America and Africa. In addition, distribution agent White Fox has licensed the series for Greece and Cyprus, where it will air on ERT3.

Production is now underway on a second season of Rastamouse, which has scored high ratings since its debut on Cbeebies. Last year, it achieved an average audience per episode of 182,000 and a 19.2 per cent share of children aged 0 to six.

In addition, in the first three months of the year, Rastamouse had been requested over 288,000 times on the BBC iPlayer.

Brand activity for the first half of 2012 includes the launch of the second DVD in March via Universal and the first TV tie-in books from Macmillan. Immediate Media is also rolling out a standalone Rastamouse magazine, while Character Options will continue to release additional skus to complement the existing plush toys, including play-sets and musical toys.
