Discovery Channel UK has teamed with Camp Beaumont to help teach kids the skills they need to survive in the wild.
The partnership – signed by Discovery Enterprises International – will see the launch of the Ultimate Survival Camp and marks the first deal of its kind to be developed with the popular UK adventure channel.
Launching this spring, the three day camp in Dearne Valley, South Yorkshire, will teach an array of wilderness survival kills including lighting a fire, building shelter, first aid and finding food and water.
Ian Woods, director, UK and EMEA licensing, said: “Ultimate Survival Camp is an exciting new venture for Discovery in the UK and the perfect extension of our values in to experiential adventures.
“The camp will give children the chance to fully immerse themselves in Discovery’s adventurous spirit, taking after stars from the channel such as Bear Grylls and Ed Stafford.”
The all-inclusive trip aimed at ten to 13 year olds will take place at camp Beaumont’s adventure centre, Dearne Valley in South Yorkshire, before rolling out across further UK locations, including Norfolk, Wales, the Isle of Wight and Northumberland over the Easter and Summer breaks.
All collateral for the Ultimate Survival Camp will be co-branded wit the tag lines inspired by Discover Channel and Discovery: Explore Your World.
Discovery Channel is the UK’s number one factual channel and achieved double-digit growth last year. The channel boasts a roster of popular programmes, including Bear Grylls: Escape from Hell, Gold Rush and Wheeler Dealers.
