Disney has posted the first in a series of shorts that feature in its Star Wars: Forces of Destiny campaign.

The first animated video, dubbed Sands of Jakku, stars Daisy Ridley who returns to reprise her role as Rey.

Lasting just under three minutes, Rey and BB-8 face a sand creature that eats junk, which almost makes a snack out of the droid.

Luckily, BB-8 narrowly misses his demise after Rey uses her staff to save the robot.

The campaign, which was outlined by Disney earlier this year, aims to focus on the famous heroines from the Star Wars franchise, including Princess Leia, Jyn Erso, Ahsoka Tano and more.

Ridley will also return to screens later this year in the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi film.
