Disney launches Imagicademy learning programme

The initiative will launch a series of educational apps featuring popular Disney characters as well as a range of tie-in products and toys.

Disney Publishing Worldwide has unveiled a new learning initiative to encourage kids to get creative called Disney Imagicademy.

Aimed at families with children aged three to eight, the technology-driven learning initiative combines Disney’s popular cast of characters with curriculum-led learning experiences.

The programme features over 30 apps for kids, and a companion app for parents, offering them the chance to play ‘an active role in their child’s learning.’

Books and physical products tying in with the Imagicademy programme will be available for the back-to-school season next year.

“Disney Consumer Products is transforming the future of our industry by integrating storytelling, play and now learning to create deeper, more engaging experiences for kids and families,” said Bob Chapek, president, Disney Consumer Products.

“With Disney Imagicademy, we are offering parents a learning product unique in the marketplace today.”

Disney has partnered with a roster of learning experts to help develop the Disney Imagicademy programme.

The campaign’s product portfolio will launch on December, 11th led with Mickey’s Magical Math World, an app featuring five maths activities, including Mickey’s Super Rocket Shapes, Donald’s Number Launcher and Minnie’s RobotCount-Along.

Disney Imagicademy will run jointly with Disney Imagicademy Parents, the parent focused partner app designed to enable them to be part of their children’s learning.

Jeff Sellinger, senior vice president, Disney Learning, added: “Disney Imagicademy’s integrated programme connects children’s apps and a parent’s app and physical toys to create a unique family experience that helps inspire a lifelong love of learning.

“The physical and digital worlds are coming together in nearly every industry, and with Disney Imagicademy, the learning field is no exception.”
