Disney passes $4bn at worldwide box office

Iron Man 3 celebrated as the key driver for the figure

This month has seen The Walt Disney Studios pass the $4bn worldwide box office milestone for this year, reporting Iron Man 3 as the key driver for the achievement.

Iron Man 3 took a total of $1.21bn worldwide, while Pixar's Monsters University grossed $744m worldwide to become its third highest grossing film.

In a year of record breaking results, the company beat its previous record of $3.791bn - set in 2010 - earlier this month, while becoming the first studio to reach $1bn at the North American box office year to date, eight years in a row.

The firm is now excited to see what Thor: The Dark World will continue to provide as it boasts a running total $559.1m worlwide so far.
