The Walt Disney Company has appointed Christine M. McCarthy as its new chief financial controller and Kevin Mayer as its chief strategy officer.

McCarthy has stepped in to the role to fill the spot vacated by Jay Rasulo who announced his departure earlier this month.

Having served as the firm’s treasurer for the last 15 years, McCarthy’s keen financial acumen has been championed by Disney CEO, Robert Iger.

“She is highly respected in the finance sector, and in this new role she will have even more impact on creating value for Disney shareholders.”

In her new role, McCarthy will report to Iger, while Mayer will report jointly to both Iger and Tom Staggs, who was promoted to chief operating officer.

McCarthy has said that she is “humbled and honoured to be entrusted with the role of CFO of this incredibly dynamic company.”
