Disney stocks up its healthy garden

New initiative to encourage US kids to eat more fruit and vegetables.

Disney Consumer Products has launched Disney Garden in the US, a new line of character-themed fruit and vegetable snacks.

The branded products were unveiled at the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit in Houston, Texas earlier this week and is Disney's attempt at helping to encourage healthier eating by American youngsters.

Presented by Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy, with names like Totally Teriyaki Sugar SnapPeas, Sunny Honey Orange Carrot Coins and Threezy Cheezy Broccoli Bites, DCP claims that the options are both nutritious and fun.

"Disney Garden offers delicious combinations of fresh fruits and vegetbales with sauces, dips and sides that will get kids excited about eating better," said Harry Dolman, executive VP of DCP, food, healthy and beauty category.

"We've packaged the line in a colourful way that truly captures Disney's magical appeal. Parents want healthier options that are easy to prepare and serve, and kids like tasty choices that are fun and appealing. Disney Garden is a win-win solution for today's busy families."
