The Disney retail experience will be coming to three Asda stores this month.
At Asda in Milton Keynes 3,000 square-foot of floorspace has already been converted, while Manchester’s Trafford Park will follow on October 8th and Cardiff City store on Monday 15th October - all open in time for Christmas.
The partnership promises to provide Asda customers with a Disney themed shopping experience while on their weekly grocery shop.
Asda workers have undergone special Disney specific training as part of the deal.
The Disney themed and branded areas will house Disney and Marvel products in one area of the stores. Products include DVDs/Blu-Ray discs, home and leisure, video games and more.
Andrew Moore, chief merchandising officer for George and general merchandise at Asda, said: “We’re excited to be opening the first ever new ‘Disney at Asda’ formats in the UK in these three stores – it has been a close collaboration between the two businesses and the resulting concept will be a stand out in retail for us and for our customers. Customers have long-known they can come into store, or visit us online, and be able to choose from a large selection of quality licensed products at Asda’s every day low prices, and the transformed space in these stores will make shopping for the characters they love easier and more accessible.”
Mike Stagg, general manager, retail, The Walt Disney Company UK & Ireland, added: “Initiatives like ‘Disney at Asda’ form an important part of our wider retail strategy to maximise our distribution channels and make Disney products accessible to families to suit their needs, depending on their shopping habits and preferences. We are delighted to be working with Asda on this project.”
