Nickelodeon UK is partnering with Accessories 4 Technology to design and produce Dora the Explorer and Go Diego Go branded video gaming console accessories.
The range of gift and accessory packs will be designed primarily for the Nintendo Wii and DS Lite systems and will roll out in September.
As with the design of the recent Dora Saves the Mermaids and Diego Safari Rescue video games, A4T will be looking to make the accessories appropriate for pre-school players, as well as acceptable to their parents.
“With console and video game providers now looking to supply a growing market of pre-school gamers, it makes sense to offer them responsibly designed accessories branded with popular characters – and they don’t get much more popular than Dora and Diego,” explained Bill Stirling, sales and marketing director at A4T.
Ashley Holman, UK licensing manager at Nickelodeon, added: “The demographic for console users is changing fast. We’ve had a lot of interest in our games for pre-schoolers because they combine favourite characters with education and entertainment, as the success of the recently released Dora Saves the Mermaids and Diego Safari Rescue video games show. These accessories from a company long regarded as a leader in the field are ideal for this growing market.”
