Egmont is celebrating 100 years since the birth of Thomas the Tank Engine creator, Rev W Awdry - launching a new book containing four stories.
Thomas and Friends will be the 42nd volume and the first new title in the Thomas the Tank Engine Railway Series in four years.
Each story has been illustrated by heritage artist Clive Spong.
"66 years after Thomas' first appearance in print, the cheeky little engine still has widespread appeal with readers of all ages," said David Riley, MD of Egmont Publishing Group. "Likewise, the Rev Awdry's original stories retain their timeless appeal, and Egmont is proud to be part of the centenary celebrations."
Katie Price, senior director of global publishing at Hit Entertainment, added: "Hit is delighted that Egmont is continuing to add to the Railway Series by publishing Christopher Awdry's celebratory new book. It is a wonderful way to mark the Rev W Awdry's centenary."
Egmont is also due to publish a Thomas the Tank Engine box set later on this year. The firm has collected 26 original titles to form the classic library set.
