Egmont Magazines is relaunching its evergreen character portfolio Thomas & Friends.
The firm's flagship fortnightly magazines Thomas & Friends and Play & Learn Thomas have both received a redesign, with a host of new features to revitalise the popular brand within the magazine marketplace.
The new-look Thomas & Friends title - aimed at three to six year olds - is out now for £1.99. It is covermounted with holographic Thomas stickers and a toy movie camera which enables readers to view scenes from the television series.
Content will explore the fictional Island of Sodor, with a first focus issue on Tidmouth. Other content will include profiles of Thomas characters, facts and a look at the layout of The Fat Controller's house.
Meanwhile, Play & Learn Thomas is due to relaunch on Wednesday September 17th and will cost £2.10. The magazine will bear a 'Let's be really useful!' tagline throughout, with the first issue covermounted with a toy microphone that the reader can use throughout the magazine to play the role of a station announcer in Sodor.
The magazine's content will focus on interactivity, with each issue including a reward chart for parents' use and stickers to be used by children through the title.
The launch of the new-look Egmont magazines has been designed to tie-in with the forthcoming Thomas & Friends CGI television series, plus the DVD launch of The Great Discovery, featuring the voice of Pierce Brosnan, in October.
Egmont will be releasing special issues of both Play & Learn Thomas and Thomas & Friends to mark these releases.
