Egmont Publishing has secured the children’s publishing license for the classic toy brand, Rubik’s.

In a deal brokered by Lori Heiss, VP brand strategy, at Rubik’s master licensee The Smiley Company, Egmont has acquired the world rights to launch the new titles in June next year.

How to Solve the Rubik’s Cube and Rubik’s Children’s Brainteasers will be the first two titles launched under the Rubik’s license.

In Rubik’s Children’s Brainteasers, fans will be able to test their wits against 80 mind-bending logic problems, from Sudoku and Hanje to mazes and pattern matching.

Tracy Phillips, rights director at Egmont, said: “Egmont is very excited to control international rights in this well-known, global and iconic brand. We have already been contacted by publishers from around the world and expect to conclude deals in many territories at Frankfurt.”
