The recently established Egmont USA has hired a new VP and publisher, while also securing Random House to look after its US sales and distribution.
Elizabeth Law, is formerly of Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers, while she has also spent time as associate publisher at Viking Children's Books and at Frederick Warne, where she oversaw the centenary celebration of the publication of Peter Rabbit.
"We have taken a lot of time to make these two critical appointments," said Douglas Pocock, executive VP of Egmont USA. "Elizabeth Law comes to us with a wealth of experience publishing top authors and handling some of the best-loved properties in the industry.
"With Random House we have a mighty distribution machine behind us and the expertise of an accomplished children's sales team."
Egmont USA will be based in New York and will launch its list of young adult and middle grade fiction and picture books in 2009. Egmont UK is one of the largest children's book publishers in the country. It produces a number of licensed books including some based on Winnie the Pooh and Thomas the Tank Engine.
