Emma Watson has confirmed her role as the lead character Belle in Disney’s live-action version of classic fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast.
Watson, famed for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film franchise, announced her involvement in the film via her Facebook page on Monday.
Directed by Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part One and Part Two) is set to begin production in 2015, however a release date is yet to be announced.
“I am finally able to tell you…that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast,” said Watson via her social media page.
“It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to Be Our Guest and sing Something There. My six year old self is one the ceiling – heart bursting.
“Time to start signing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it.”
The development of the Beauty and the Beast live-action movie follow’s further updates of Disney’s other live-action adaptations, such as Cinderella, which is now set to hit cinemas on March 13th.
Meanwhile, a live-action version of Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau, will be released in April 2016.
