Entertainment One has partnered with The Mark Gordon Company to create a new independent studio to finance and produce film, network, cable and digital content.
The content will then be distributed by the London and Canadian firm eOne across its international channels.
The new L.A.-based studio will be led by Mark Gordon (pictured) as CEO and will continue to produce content for The Mark Gordon Company as well as finance projects by other producers, states Hollywood Reporter.
The deal, however, will see eOne take a significant stake in The Mark Gordon Company – a firm renown for TV and cinematic hits including Grey’s Anatomy, Speed and Saving Private Ryan.
Darren Throop, president and chief executive officer, Entertainment One, said: “we are delighted to enter in to this partnership with Mark and his team.
“Mark brings a wealth of experience and talent to the table. The Mark Gordon Company creates first-class content and has been entertaining audiences around the world for many years.
“As eOne continues to build its global platform, partnering with strong creative companies like The Mark Gordon Company is right on strategy and I am very excited to welcome them to the larger eOne family.”
The Mark Gordon Company will complete its tenure with ABC Studios and will continue to produce film content across all genres.
Simultaneously, eOne’s US television business will continue to produce programming and operate independent of The Mark Gordon Company.
The Mark Gordon Company’ CEO, Mark Gordon, added: “In eOne, we have found partners that share our vision of supporting the creators and are immersed in the international marketplace with great ambitions to expand in the US.
“Together, we are building an alternative to the traditional studio way.”
