Entertainment One has secured a number of new agreements for Peppa Pig in Germany.
WDR mediagroup has been appointed as licensing agent for the pre-school hit in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The firm will oversee the expansion of the Peppa Pig licensing programme in the region - it is already widely known after airing on WDR, as well as the children's channel KIKA.
In addition, WDR has also picked up the broadcast rights to series five and six, as well as renewing the first two series.
Master toy partner, Big on Toy Innovation released its Peppa toy line in March. New licensing agreements have also been signed with Ravensburger (puzzles, games, activity books), VTech (electronic learning) and Simba (construction blocks), bringing the total number of German licensees to 20.
Product is expected to roll out from spring 2015.
Andrew Carley, head of global licensing at eOne, commented: "We are delighted to be partnering with WDRmg and are confident that their extensive experience in developing licensing programmes for leading children's brands will be invaluable to growing the presence of Peppa in these key territories.
"We have a strong broadcast partner in KIKA which is fuelling demand for licensed merchandise and we look forward to working closely with WDRmg in making quality merchandise available to Peppa fans throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland."
Andrea Zuska, chief content officer at WDRmg, added: "Peppa is a marvellous addition to our portfolio of successful children's brands."
