With the latest film due to open in the US on August 3rd, Fox Consumer Products and Walmart have teamed up for an exclusive Diary of a Wimpy Kid promotion.
More than 2,500 stores will carry a full range of Wimpy Kid products, including exclusive merchandise to Walmart, in a special 'one stop Wimpy shop' area.
This will remain in stores through to August 28th.
Walmart will support the programme with an in-store marketing drive, including dressed up end caps and shelf talkers. In addition, the new movie trailer will run on TV displays in the electronics department.
Online marketing activity will include social network posts on both the Diary of a Wimpy Kid page and the Walmart Facebook page.
"Diary of a Wimpy Kid is quite simply one of the strongest children's franchises in the world today, topping both the book, film and home entertainment charts with each release," said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products. "Walmart has a great programme to support the film release in the US, giving fans the ultimate Wimpy Kid shopping experience."
