Fancy new deal for Jakks

Jakks Pacific, Harper Collins and United Media are teaming up to develop and market a new line of dolls, girls role play, dress-up, craft and activity items based on Fancy Nancy, the New York Times best selling children?s book series.

The line is due to launch in the US next spring. Created for children aged four to seven, Fancy Nancy is a picture book about a young girl who adds pizzaz to the ordinary. It was first published in 2005 and has now been on the New York Times Children’s Bestseller list for over 86 weeks. The follow-up, Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy, was published in March 2007 and has been in the list for over 23 weeks.

A further 13 new titles are due to be introduced over the next few years.

“Not only is Nancy fancy, she is a publishing blockbuster,” offered Jennifer Richmond, senior VP of licensing and media at Jakks Pacific. “Little girls have embraced the Fancy Nancy books from the bottoms of their posh little hearts and Jakks plans to continue the voice and spirit of this property with a line of products that will appeal to the ‘inner Nancy’ in all little girls.”
