A range of Scalextric toys based on vehicles from the popular Fast & Furious films will zoom to retail next year.

CPLG, the licensing agent for Universal Pictures' Fast & Furious franchise, has announced a new agreement with Hornby Hobbies.

The Fast & Furious Scalextric range will be available internationally from May 2013, just in time for the next movie - Fast & Furious 6.

"The Fast & Furious films are known for their impressive range of cars and the characters’ racing skills. We are looking forward to providing fans the opportunity to take their own piece of the action home to recreate the fast paced races in their front room," said Paul Chandler, Marketing Manager at Hornby Hobbies Ltd.

Tom Roe, Category Manager for Toys & Games at CPLG, added: "We are very pleased to have signed this new deal with Hornby Hobbies.

"They’re a great company to work with, and with Scalextric as the world’s favourite slot car racing system, this represents a fantastic use of the licence, and the range is sure to have huge appeal."

In 2011, the Fast Five movie raced into theatres, opened at number one in territories around the world and took in more than $620 million at the global box office.

The licensing agreement was made through Universal Partnerships & Licensing.
