Fox Consumer Products will be hoping that the arrival of a sixth book will give a further shot in the arm to its merchandise programme for Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Cabin Fever will be released on November 16th and will mark Puffin's largest first printing of any title in the series to date.
The book will be supported by Puffin's biggest marketing and PR drive, including an above the line consumer advertising campaign.
Almost four million Diary of a Wimpy Kid books have been sold in the UK alone. Over 50 million books are in print in the US and Canada, with the titles being sold in more than 36 countries around the world.
Fox is looking to expand its multi-category merchandising programme to capitalise on the arrival of the book, and the momentum caused by the recent film release, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules.
The Funko LLC toy, figure and plush line debuted earlier this year, with Pressman's original Cheese Touch Game also proving popular. Existing licensees for the brand include Bioworld, Fundex Games, Scene It?, Harry Abrams, Sky High International, American Greetings and Trends International.
