Rainbow has announced its first back to school licensing deal for its Maya Fox property, with Italian licensee Cartorama.

The firm will be developing a 'contemporary, vogueish' collection of back to school, stationery and gift lines for distribution next autumn in 300 shops across Italy.

Maya Fox: Tag Your Life is a new fashion property aimed at 13 to 17 year-olds. The brand started out as a full length novel, printed in Italy by Mondadori, the country's largest publisher.

Maya also exists as a monthly magazine, selling around 70-80,000 copies each month in Italy alone.

A further four novels, a fashion comic magazine and a dedicated web blog are now being planned.
