Taffy Entertainment has secured a worldwide distribution deal with SLR Productions for animated comedy series Gasp, based on the Australian comic books.
The deal (which excludes Australia, New Zealand, China and parts of Southeast Asia), comes hot on the heels of a broadcast agreement inked with France's Canal+ for the 52x11-minute series.
Now in production, the first episodes will be delivered in June, with the show beginning to air from spring 2010. It is produced by SLR Productions, in association with Screen Australia, Network Nine Australia, ABCKids, Agogo and Taffy Entertainment.
"Securing the initial deal in Europe with a high profile broadcaster like Canal+ is the first step to what we anticipate will be a strong roll out across Europe and the rest of the world," said SLR principal Suzanne Ryan.
Lionel Marty, president of worldwide sales at Taffy, added: "This new TV series brings to life a lot of the same great humour found in the popular comic book, but in all-new exciting adventures. We're looking forward to introducing it to buyers from around the world."
