The first teaser for Steven’s Spielberg’s upcoming big budget movie, The BFG has landed.

Inspired by Roald Dahl’s classic children’s tale, the story follows a young girl named Sophie who embarks on a mission to stop giants from eating children.

She can’t do it alone, however, and with the aid of a newfound buddy – the Big Friendly Giant – she follows a fantastical adventure that sees her crossing paths with the Queen of England.

Spielberg’s adaptation of Dahl’s tale stars 11-year-old Ruby Barnhill as Sophie and Mark Rylance as The BFG, as well as Bill Hader as a giant, Penelope Wilton as The Queen and Rebecca Hall as Mary, the Queen’s maid.

The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 1, 2016, 27 years after The BFG first hit screens in an animated television movie in 1989.

The BFG now joins a roster of big screen adaptations of Dahl’s popular children’s books, including Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda and Fantastic Mr. Fox.
