Farmville creator Zynga has joined forces with HBO and developer Disruptor Beam to bring the popular Game of Thrones Ascent social media game into the Zynga Partners program.
Since its open beta launch in February, Game of Thrones Ascent has experienced an "overwhelming" amount of interest from social gamers with more than 500,000 installs. And this is set to climb further with Zynga now on board.
"Zynga is a true leader in the industry and we are thrilled that they will be working with us and Disruptor Beam to make this fantastic game available to fans through multiple platforms," said James Costos, VP HBO Global Licensing.
"The response to the Facebook launch of Game of Thrones Ascent has been incredible and we expect that to continue as more users opt into the game."
In Game of Thrones Ascent, players will lead the life of a noble in the world of Westeros, made popular by the books from George R.R. Martin and the TV show from HBO. Players will claim their birthright by choosing which of the great houses they'll swear allegiance to, securing holdings and develop lands.
Jon Radoff, CEO and Founder at Disruptor Beam, added: "As with any social game developer, a primary goal is to continue to iterate on the game with new mechanics and features, while growing the player base.
"For those reasons, we are extremely excited to partner with Zynga, exposing Game of Thrones Ascent to Zynga’s millions of players on Zynga.com and Facebook, while working side-by-side with the Zynga Partners team to continue to make this game a true extension of HBO’s renowned series Game of Thrones."
