Golden Bear appointed master toy for Disney's Henry Hugglemonster

Golden Bear has been appointed the master toy licensee for new pre-school property, Henry Hugglemonster by the Walt Disney Company.

The family series - based on the award winning children's book I'm a Happy Hugglewug, by Niamh Sharkey - premiered on Disney Junior in February 2013.

Golden Bear is now developing a range of soft toys, play-sets and accessories featuring the show's popular characters, scheduled to hit the market in spring 2014.

Already the series has been viewed by a quarter of all kids aged four to nine in the UK, while the Henry Hugglemonster microsite is averaging 117,000 monthly unique visitors over a quarterly average.

Featuring guest voiceovers including Geri Halliwell, Brenda Bleythyn and Brian Blessed, the show follows the adventures of five year old Henry Hugglemonster and his family of monsters.

Christine Nicholls, vice chairman and director of product development, Golden Bear, said: "This is an incredibly exciting development for the Golden Bear portfolio.Henry Hugglemonster is a great Disney property and a perfect match for our own company ethos.

"We have a number of soft toys featuring all the favourite characters in the pipeline, together with playlets and accessories that we know will capture the essence of Henry and his pals perfectly.

"We have also stepped up the timeline for product as much as we can as Henry is already proving so popular and first products will be available from spring 2014."
